We would like to borrow a saying from the Native Americans…

“You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of your grandfathers.  So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin.

Teach your children what we have taught our children that the earth is our Mother.  Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth.  If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.” 

We believe this quote holds a powerful message for us.  At OneHeart we wish to do things differently for  Mother Earth.  The intent of the Green Pledge is not to only tell our family members, friends and visitors what to do to save Mother Earth but instead for us to take the initiative through our own actions.  We therefore promise Mother Earth that at the beginning of each calendar month, we will do simple things for Her.  We pledge that what we do will become our good habits.  It is our responsibility to pass on these deeds  to our children so that they can do their part to save Mother Earth, too!

[At the end of each month, we will inform you if these tasks are easy, moderate or hard to follow.  If we think it is easy, there is no reason for you not to try doing your part to save Mother Earth. Even if it’s difficult, let’s try to take it as a challenge for the sake of saving Mother Earth.]
